Bugbear
Nobody wants you
Nobody needs you
Everyone has you, even yourself
The grinds in my coffee, the dread in my routine
A daily reminder, a wedge between us both
She was better as a dream, the wind beneath my wings
The song in my head that I don't want to sing anymore
Bugbear
Nobody wants you
Nobody needs you
Everyone has you, even yourself
A needle pulling thread that strings me along
Nostalgia takes the wheel and steers me oh so wrong
Archives and stories I'm forced to remember
Despite my best efforts, I can't forget her

The Book Was Better
05:36
|
|||
Once upon a time, there could've been a story
In neither print nor film was it ever meant to be
If I am a classic novel, I'm too cliche
I'm the kind you'll skim, politely put away
Of all the diamonds in the sky, you were made for the silver screen
And I'm sure your co-star will be more handsome than me
I thought the book was better
The one where we ended up together
I never learned how to read more than what was on your page
You sent me more mixed signals every day
How could these montages scenes and all the plot written in between
Be subverted by a sad abrupt ending
The critics all agreed (every single one but me):
That is was shallow, short, and devoid of all meaning
I thought the book was better
The one where we ended up together
I thought that my book was better
And this is how you end forever
There is a difference between perception and reality
I don't know which one to believe, the one I want or the one I need

Open Door
04:20
|
|||
There was a time I knew you
There was a time I saw right through you
Then you turned me down
In and out through an open door
Never got to know you
You turned me down that day
Back to the wind
That whispers all I have to say
Now you're here to stay
Unexpected ways
You'll be the fall of me
Living in my head rent free
Now I can picture me and you
A thousand words never true
No frame in sight, out of view
To think, I trusted you

Literal Criminal

Literal criminal
You cheat and you lie
You kill and I die
Tell me why you are here
Evidence disappears
You're a literal criminal
Woke up this morning to fill my head
With heated noise, loathing and dread
This echo chamber, is more of the same
Hate thy neighbor, die in vain
Literal criminal
You cheat and you lie
You kill and I die
Tell me why you are here
Evidence disappears
You're a literal criminal
Chose the judge, paid off the jury
Raining down, fire and fury
Criminal
You cheat and you lie
You kill and I die
Tell me why you are here
Evidence disappears
You're a literal criminal

Hurricane Girl
03:08
|
|||
She puts on airs with the sky in her eyes
Clouds all in her hair
This low pressure system, it makes me stressed
She watches and listens
Where earth meets the sky, where we collide
And darkness takes the light
This girl is a hurricane and I'm caught out in the pouring rain
I'm capsized and a castaway
I'm hoping she'll save me for a rainy day
It's give and take when the levee breaks
There's flooding out in the streets
Storms pass through, she passes me by
And I was never one for goodbyes
This category 4, four letter word
Will surely be the death of me
This girl is a hurricane and I'm caught out in the pouring rain
I'm capsized and a castaway
I'm hoping she'll save me for a rainy day
I'm more like the month of May
Praying for her golden rays
It's painfully clear and it hurts to say
She saved me up for her rainy day

April Showers
03:54
|
|||
April showers brought May flowers
The dirt and the seed weren't made for each other
They withered and died, didn't make it June
I was left to the night with a burned out tune
A late-night rendezvous in a dimly lit room
Speaking softly, lives colliding
There wasn't much to say when we turned to leave
Wasn't much to say, didn't matter anyway
A love song written in past tense
With the fear that there'll be nothing left
More bitter than sweet, more shallow than deep
Thinking of you and you alone

Lady Luck
03:40
|
|||
From the Kelly Green of Philadelphia,
To the Western 'burbs of Chester
I've been a rover, searching his way
Stumbling and tripping forever
I'm a lover not a fighter
Though truthfully I'm not much of either
Lady luck's never been kind to me
And I haven't got much of either
Down to the bar with me and my mates
Where the pints flow for a dollar
I thought I found a cool drink of water
But it turned to be whiskey sour
When I finally find her
When my roving is over
I'll acquaint with the pavements and lawns
And spend my night in the slammer
From the Kelly Green of Philadelphia
To the Western 'burbs of Chester
Lady luck's never been kind to me
And I haven't got much of either

And the Sea
05:00
|
|||
I can remember when you were the one
I can remember when this was fun
I remember nothin' at all
And the sea, the sea was whiskey all the time
You took all my money, every cent I had
Sweeter than honey, you were all that
That I needed at the time
And the sea, the sea was whiskey all the time
Smooth as a nail
Not the brightest bulb
The dullest knife
Too big a gulp
The light of my life
My love and my hope
And the sea, the sea was whiskey all the time
I can remember when you were the one
I can remember when this was fun
I remember nothin' at all
And the sea, the sea was whiskey all the time
